Operation Description The Carousel Brake(s) can be removed from the back flange if needed.
Triggered by Maintenance A carousel brakes have an expected lifetime above the requested lifetime of the camera. So it should not need replacement. Still it mays have to be removed for regular lubrication of the ring gear.
Triggered by Monitoring Analysis Monitoring of the carousel operation may indicate issues with break(s). A visual inspection or replacement could then be decided. ( To be further specified ) .
Triggered by Incident recovery Following an earthquake event a visual inspection of the break teeths, and the carousel gear teeths, will request break(s) removal. Other un-expected – not yet identified - event may request a break removal or replacement.

60,10 When unpowered the brakes are locked, preventing carousel rotation. Removing a single break from the carousel, leaving the two other in place , will still grant that the carousel , even unbalanced, will not move.

100,10 There is 3 breaks on the carousel ( Bay X,Y,Z) , the location of the bay associated to the break to remove should be first identified.

The 2 breaks & motor handles should be put in place on the brake frame, to have an easy way to handle a brake once it will be unscrewed from the back flange.

As you lift out the break with the handles, be careful to not spread grease all over the place (grease is on the gear side) , and avoid the back flange wires on the way out .
